Symphysodon aequifasciatus
Origin: Captive bred
The Yellow Marlboro Discus is a clean, vibrant solid-yellow variant of the prestigious Marlboro strain, a more recent development in European discus breeding that has quickly gained popularity in Belgian and Dutch aquatic stores. Its minimal striping and intense yellow body make it a striking statement fish in display aquariums, particularly when paired with blue, cobalt, or red discus varieties for maximum colour contrast.
Maintain in groups of at least 5 in a minimum 200 L tank with very soft, warm water: pH 6.0–7.0, GH 2–8, KH 0–3, temperature 28–31°C. Perform 25–30% water changes every 1–2 days. Feed beef heart mix, frozen bloodworms, and quality discus pellets. Use warm-spectrum lighting to showcase the yellow colouration. Stable conditions are essential — avoid all sudden swings in temperature or chemistry.
