Rasbora lateristriata
Also known as: Yellow Rasbora, Yellow-banded Rasbora
Origin: Java, Sumatra, Indonesia
Rasbora lateristriata is a medium-sized, adaptable rasbora from the rivers of Java and Sumatra, where it is found in a variety of habitats from clear hill streams to sluggish lowland rivers. Its warm yellow-gold body colouration and active, peaceful disposition make it a pleasing addition to community aquaria. It is undemanding in water chemistry and adapts well to most tap water conditions once properly acclimatised.
Water: 22–28 °C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderately hard (GH 4–15). Tank: 80 L minimum; open midwater, planted edges, gentle to moderate flow. Feeding: Omnivore — flakes, micro pellets, frozen bloodworm, Daphnia. Behaviour: Active peaceful schooler; keep 8+ for best group behaviour. Compatibility: Excellent with other medium community fish; avoid very small or delicate tankmates.
