Rasbora lateristriata
Origin: Indonesia (Java, Sumatra)
Rasbora lateristriata is a graceful medium-sized rasbora from Java and Sumatra with a subtle golden lateral band that brightens and intensifies under high-quality feeding and good lighting. Underrepresented in the trade relative to its attractive appearance, it is a peaceful and active schooling species that thrives in planted community aquariums where its understated beauty complements more vividly coloured neighbours. An excellent choice for Southeast Asian biotope setups.
Keep in groups of at least 6 in a 100 L or larger well-planted tank. Feed a varied diet of quality flake, micro pellets, daphnia, and frozen bloodworms to bring out the best gold colouration. Maintain temperature 22–27°C, pH 6.0–7.5. Compatible with other small peaceful rasboras, small tetras, and corydoras. Provide a dark substrate and gentle flow for a Southeast Asian stream biotope feel.
