Neocaridina davidi
Origin: Captive bred (Neocaridina davidi var.)
The Yellow Shrimp is a colour variant of Neocaridina davidi selectively bred for a vivid lemon-yellow body colouration that provides striking visual contrast in planted aquariums. Among the most beginner-friendly freshwater shrimp available, it tolerates a wide range of water parameters and requires no specialised substrates or RO water. An excellent first shrimp for new keepers and a vibrant addition to established planted communities.
Keep in groups of 10 or more in a minimum 10 L planted tank. Temperature 18–28°C, pH 6.5–7.5, GH 6–14, KH 2–6. Feed powdered or micro shrimp food, blanched vegetables, and biofilm. Perform 10–15% weekly water changes. Avoid copper-based fertilisers, plant treatments, or medications — highly toxic to shrimp. Compatible with small peaceful fish that will not predate shrimp (nano rasboras, small corydoras). Breeding is prolific under good conditions.
