Cherax sp. 'Zebra'
Also known as: Zebra Crayfish
Origin: New Guinea (captive bred)
Cherax sp. 'Zebra' is a rare and visually dramatic New Guinean Cherax species with a distinctive zebra-like pattern of alternating dark brown-to-black and pale cream or white horizontal banding across the carapace, tail, and chelipeds. This striking natural patterning makes it immediately recognisable and unlike any other crayfish in the hobby. It shares the care requirements of other large Cherax species and commands a premium among dedicated crayfish enthusiasts.
Water: 22–27°C, pH 7.0–8.0, GH 8–15, KH 4–8; high-quality filtration essential. Tank: minimum 120 L, large cave shelters, robust driftwood and rocks; secure lid. Feeding: sinking pellets, blanched vegetables, frozen meaty foods; omnivorous diet. Behaviour: territorial and bold; will predate small tank mates and destroy plants. Compatibility: species-only or with large robust fish; not community-safe.
