Botia striata
Also known as: Zebra Loach, Candy-stripe Loach
Origin: India
Botia striata is one of the smaller Botia species, making it well-suited to mid-sized community aquaria. Its alternating gold and dark brown vertical stripes are bold and sharply defined, giving it excellent visual appeal. Though sociable within its own group, it is generally more tolerant of tank mates than larger relatives and can be kept comfortably in diverse communities.
Water: 22-26°C, pH 6.0-7.5, soft to moderately hard. Tank: Minimum 80 L, fine sand substrate, dense planting and hiding spots. Feeding: Small sinking pellets, daphnia, bloodworm, blanched vegetables. Behaviour: Active daytime and twilight shoaler; burrows in soft substrate. Compatibility: Excellent community fish; safe with small nano species.
