Botia striata
Origin: India (Karnataka)
Botia striata is a slender, peaceful loach from Karnataka rivers in India. Growing to about 9 cm, it displays fine yellowish vertical stripes on a dark grey body. Unlike the larger Clown Loach it stays manageable in tanks from 100 L. It is an avid snail predator and a tireless bottom-level explorer. Active in groups of five or more; social and rarely aggressive. Prefers soft to medium-hard water with ample hiding places.
Keep in groups of 5+. Sandy substrate, plenty of caves and driftwood. Temperature 22–26 °C. Feed sinking pellets, frozen bloodworm, and live snails. Avoid sharp gravel. Sensitive to poor water quality.
