Zoanthus sp.
Origin: Indo-Pacific (aquacultured)
Rasta Zoanthids display a vibrant combination of red and orange skirts with contrasting green or teal centres — one of the most widely kept and easily recognised zoanthid colour morphs. They are extremely hardy, fast-growing, and tolerant of varying conditions, making them the ideal first coral for new reef keepers. Rasta zoas spread quickly under good conditions and can be easily fragged to trade with other hobbyists.
Low to high PAR (50–400+). Moderate flow. Alk 8–10 dKH, Ca 400–450 ppm, temp 23–28°C. Tolerant of elevated nutrients. Spreads via runners — control expansion with regular fragging. Handle with nitrile gloves — palytoxin risk. Do not frag near face. One of the most beginner-friendly corals available. Aquacultured frags preferred for ethical and quality reasons.
