Alternanthera reineckii 'Mini'
Also known as: AR Mini, Dwarf Alternanthera, Mini Red Alternanthera
Origin: South America

Alternanthera reineckii 'Mini' is a dwarf cultivar selected for its noticeably smaller leaf size and more compact growth habit compared to the standard species. It is one of the most popular red midground plants in high-tech aquascaping, prized for its ability to maintain a compact, low profile while displaying vivid pink to deep red colouration under intense light. Its slow growth rate makes trimming less frequent than faster plants, and it is invaluable as a long-lasting colour accent in Nature Aquarium layouts.
Light: High (70–100 PAR); essential for deep pink-red colouration and compact leaf size. CO2: Required at 25–35 mg/L; without CO2 growth stalls and colour fades. Fertiliser: High iron and comprehensive micronutrients; dose frequently for sustained colour. Planting: Midground groups of 5–7 stems spaced 2 cm; trim every 3–4 weeks. Growth: Slow; 5–15 cm; compact form maintained by high light and regular trimming.
