Ammannia gracilis
Origin: Africa
Ammannia gracilis is a robust African stem plant with long, lance-shaped leaves that develop a warm red-to-coppery-orange colour under good lighting. Its upright growth and bold colour make it a classic Dutch-style aquascape plant, suitable for background or the 'street' groupings typical of competitive layouts. Easier to maintain deep colour than many Rotala or Ludwigia species. Grows vigorously with CO2 and adequate iron.
Good light and CO2 for best colour. Iron-rich comprehensive fertiliser essential for red pigment. Temperature 22–28 °C. Soft to medium water. Trim tops and replant for density. Plant in groups of 5+ for colour impact.
