Anubias barteri var. nana
Also known as: Marble Anubias, Marbled Nana Anubias
Origin: West Africa (cultivar)
Anubias barteri var. nana 'Marble' is a striking variegated cultivar displaying a distinctive marbled or mottled pattern across each leaf — irregular sweeps of cream, pale yellow and medium green merge in a pattern unique to every individual leaf. Growing as slowly as other variegated Anubias forms, it rarely exceeds 10–12 cm in height, making it suitable for foreground and midground positions in aquariums of all sizes. Its marbling pattern distinguishes it visually from the speckled 'Stardust' form and makes each plant individual. It requires stable conditions and moderate lighting to maintain colour expression. A beautiful and lasting addition to any planted display.
Light: Moderate; adequate light is needed to sustain the marbled colouration. CO2: Not required; stable conditions and good light are the main requirements. Fertilisation: Light liquid fertilisation; avoid over-feeding which can cause algae on the slow-growing leaves. Placement: Foreground to midground on driftwood or rock; best appreciated up close. Propagation: Extremely slow rhizome division; handle gently to preserve the delicate variegated tissue.
