Anubias barteri var. nana 'Petite'
Also known as: Anubias Petite, Dwarf Anubias, Nano Anubias
Origin: West Africa (TC cultivar)
Anubias nana 'Petite' is the smallest commonly available Anubias variety, producing miniature dark green, coin-shaped leaves on a compact, slow-growing rhizome. It is the quintessential hardscape plant for nano aquariums and detail work in larger scapes, able to be tied or glued to rocks, driftwood, and substrate crevices. The tissue culture format is particularly valuable for Anubias, as this species is highly prone to algae growth on its slow-growing leaves when purchased from conventional sources.
Light: Low to medium; slower growth under very low light — medium light optimal. CO2: Not required; thrives in low-tech tanks without injection. Substrate: Attach to hardscape with fishing line or aquarium-safe glue; do not bury rhizome. Planting: Never bury the rhizome — attach to rocks or wood; rhizome burial causes rot. Growth: Very slow; do not remove old leaves unless they yellow — patience is key.
