Aponogeton crispus
Origin: Sri Lanka
Aponogeton crispus is a widely available bulb plant from Sri Lanka producing rosettes of long, narrow leaves with distinctively wavy, crisped margins. It grows readily, blooms regularly in the aquarium, and often self-pollinates to produce seeds. A reliable and affordable specialist bulb plant for Belgian hobbyists.
Plant bulb tip-up in nutrient-rich substrate, barely covered. Medium light is ideal. Regular root-tab fertilisation extends active growth periods. The plant naturally goes dormant — leaves may die back after 6–12 months of active growth; remove bulb, let dry for 2–4 weeks, then replant. CO2 not required.
