Aponogeton crispus 'Red'

Aponogeton crispus 'Red' displays beautiful reddish-brown to deep burgundy leaf colouration that provides a striking warm contrast in planted aquariums. Growing from a dormant bulb, it produces long, narrow, wavy-edged leaves that sway elegantly in water movement. One of the most beginner-friendly Aponogeton species despite its impressive appearance.

Plant bulb shallowly in nutrient-rich substrate with the growing tip exposed. Medium light encourages best red colouration. Fertilise regularly with root tabs. Naturally goes through dormancy periods — remove bulb if leaves die off, store dry briefly, then replant. No CO2 required. Can bloom and self-seed in aquariums.
