Aponogeton ulvaceus
Origin: Madagascar
Aponogeton ulvaceus is one of the most striking bulb plants available, producing large numbers of pale green, semi-translucent, heavily crinkled leaves that wave gently in the current. It grows vigorously during its active phase and can fill a large aquarium with elegant foliage. Sold individually as dormant or sprouting bulbs.
Plant bulb shallowly in a nutritious substrate. Medium light and regular fertilisation with root tabs encourage vigorous growth. The plant will naturally go dormant after 6–12 months — leaves die off and the bulb rests. Remove, dry briefly, and replant to restart the growth cycle. No CO2 required but CO2 enhances growth speed.
