Anubias hastifolia
Also known as: Arrowhead Anubias, Hastifolia Anubias
Origin: West Africa
Arrowhead Anubias (Anubias hastifolia) is a West African species with one of the most distinctive leaf shapes in the genus — clearly arrow- or halberd-shaped with two pronounced basal lobes flanking the petiole junction. This unique silhouette makes it instantly recognisable and adds strong architectural contrast to aquascape midground compositions. It shares the full hardiness and low-maintenance care requirements of all Anubias.
Light: low light; thrives in deep shade where few other plants survive. CO2: not required; trace element supplementation helps maintain leaf colouration. Attachment: tie rhizome to driftwood or large stone with cotton thread. Trimming: minimal — remove old leaves at the base as they age; the distinctive arrow shape is maintained naturally. Growth: very slow; propagate by rhizome division.
