Bacopa colorata
Origin: India
Bacopa colorata is a visually striking species from India with small rounded leaves that develop vivid pink-to-red tones from the tips downward as light intensity increases. More demanding than B. caroliniana, it rewards aquascapers with outstanding colour rivalling many Rotala species. CO2 injection and high light are essential for the deepest colouration.
Plant in nutrient-rich substrate in high light (0.8–1.5 W/L). CO2 injection and iron-rich fertilisation are essential for red colouration. Low light causes the leaves to revert to green. Trim stems above 20 cm to maintain density. Replant trimmed tops for propagation. Excellent mid-ground colour accent in Nature Aquarium scapes.
