Bacopa salzmannii

Bacopa salzmannii is a colourful South American species with small rounded leaves that develop beautiful purple-pink tones under higher light intensities. A favourite among Dutch-style aquascapers for its soft colour transitions. Regular CO2 supplementation and iron dosing maximise the intensity of the purple colouration.

Plant in iron-rich substrate or supplement with liquid iron fertiliser. High light (0.8+ W/L) and CO2 injection are required for purple colouration — in low light leaves remain green. Trim regularly to prevent leggy growth. Works best as a dense midground group in Dutch or Nature Aquarium layouts.
