Bacopa sp.
Also known as: Colorata Bacopa, Pink Bacopa
Origin: Americas (exact origin uncertain)
Bacopa sp. 'Colorata' is a tissue culture variety of Bacopa whose leaves exhibit a distinctive pink to red colouration under high light and CO2 conditions. Unlike fully red plants this variety retains green tones at the base, creating a gradient that blends naturally between green and red zones in a Dutch or Nature Aquarium layout. Growth is moderate and the plant is less demanding than many red stem plants. The tissue culture form provides a snail and algae-free start. It grows upright in tidy columns suitable for the midground. Regular macro and micro fertilisation maintains vibrant colouration. Particularly effective in Dutch-style aquascapes as a subtle colour transition plant between contrasting species groups.
