Nymphoides aquatica
Origin: North America
Nymphoides aquatica is named for its distinctive cluster of banana-shaped tubers at the base, producing broad floating lily-pad-like leaves and delicate submerged growth. An interesting novelty plant that works well as a foreground accent or mid-to-background specimen when its leaves reach the surface.
Plant the banana-shaped tubers on the substrate surface with roots buried but tubers above substrate — burying the whole tuber causes rot. Low to medium light is sufficient. Provide root tabs near the base for nutrients. Floating leaves reaching the surface are natural; trim if they block light to other plants. No CO2 required.
