Origin: Southeast Asia
Barclaya longifolia 'Red' — the orchid lily or red Barclaya — is an unusual aquatic plant producing long, narrow lanceolate leaves in deep red-brown to maroon that wave in current like ribbons. It is related to water lilies but grows submerged. Unique and beautiful, it is less common in the hobby and requires warm, soft water and nutrient-rich substrate. A genuine showpiece for the experienced planted tank keeper.
Light: medium-high. Warm (25–30°C). Soft acidic water. Nutrient-rich substrate. CO2 beneficial. Temperature: 25–30°C. A genuine rarity and showpiece.
