Blyxa japonica
Origin: Japan / Southeast Asia
Blyxa japonica is a grass-like aquatic plant with thin, softly arching leaves that create a distinctive natural appearance reminiscent of reed beds. It is a staple plant in Takashi Amano's Nature Aquarium-style layouts. Under high light it develops subtle golden-yellow to orange tones. It grows as a single rosette initially then develops daughter plants. CO2 promotes vigorous growth; without CO2 it survives but grows slowly.
Light: medium-high. CO2 beneficial. pH 5.5–7.5. Soft water preferred. Temperature: 22–28°C. Classic Nature Aquarium midground plant.
