Bolbitis heudelotii
Origin: West Africa
Bolbitis heudelotii — the African water fern — produces elegant, translucent dark green fronds with pinnate compound leaves. Like Microsorum and Anubias it is a rhizomatous epiphyte that attaches to driftwood or rock. It requires moderate to fast-flowing water and moderate light. In ideal conditions it develops into a magnificent specimen. It is particularly striking when backlit — the semi-translucent fronds glow green. A rewarding choice for experienced planted tank keepers.
Light: medium. Flow: moderate-high (important for nutrient absorption). Attach to driftwood or rock — do not bury rhizome. CO2 beneficial. Temperature: 22–28°C. Slow grower.
