Bolbitis sp.
Origin: Southeast Asia
Bolbitis sp. 'Asiatica' is an aquatic fern from Asian river systems bearing deeply lobed, semi-transparent, dark-green fronds that take on a glassy jewel-like quality in moving water. It attaches to rocks and wood via its rhizome and grows slowly in moderate flow and shade. A spectacular somewhat rare epiphyte creating a lush prehistoric atmosphere.
Attach rhizome to hardscape in an area with moderate flow. Shade is preferred — avoid direct strong light that bleaches the translucent fronds. CO2 and soft water improve growth rate. Do not bury the rhizome. Remove old fronds at the rhizome to encourage fresh growth. Propagate by careful rhizome division.
