Bucephalandra sp. 'Green Wavy'
Also known as: Buce Green Wavy, Bucephalandra Green Wavy
Origin: Borneo, Indonesia
Buce Green Wavy (Bucephalandra sp. 'Green Wavy') is one of many named Bucephalandra cultivars from the fast-flowing rivers of Borneo, valued for its subtle iridescence and gently wavy leaf margins. Like all Bucephalandras, it grows attached to submerged hardscape via a creeping rhizome and is extremely slow-growing but long-lived. Under good light it may occasionally produce delicate white flowers even when fully submerged — a rare phenomenon in aquarium plants.
Light: low to medium light; moderate light enhances the iridescent shimmer effect on the leaves. CO2: beneficial; CO2 and soft, slightly acidic water closely replicate its natural blackwater stream habitat. Attachment: attach rhizome to smooth stones or driftwood with superglue gel; do not bury the rhizome. Trimming: remove old leaves at the rhizome as new growth pushes forward; minimal maintenance required. Growth: very slow; propagate by dividing the rhizome into sections.
