Bucephalandra sp. 'Catherine'
Also known as: Catherine Buce, Buce Catherine
Origin: Borneo, Malaysia
Bucephalandra sp. 'Catherine' is a named morph with a devoted following among buce collectors. Its distinguishing feature is the spoon-like shape of each leaf, with a clear mid-vein creating an elegant structural detail visible up close. The surface of mature leaves carries a consistent blue-green lustre under standard aquarium lighting. It is a robust low-light performer that adapts readily to a range of tank conditions, making it one of the most accessible premium buce morphs for intermediate hobbyists.
Light: Low to medium; 20–40 PAR; tolerates dimly lit tanks well. CO2: Not required; supplemental CO2 speeds up new leaf production. Water: pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderately hard. Planting: Attach rhizome to driftwood or stone with thread or glue. Growth: Slow; stable and undemanding once established on hardscape.
