Bucephalandra sp. 'Green'
Also known as: Green Buce, Bucephalandra Green, Buce
Origin: Borneo (TC cultivar)
Bucephalandra is a genus of rheophytic aroids endemic to Borneo, growing attached to rocks in fast-flowing streams. The 'Green' variety is one of the most accessible and popular Bucephalandra forms, producing small, oval dark green leaves with a characteristic iridescent blue-green sheen that shimmers under aquarium lighting. Like Anubias it attaches readily to hardscape and grows slowly but steadily without special care requirements. The TC format eliminates the algae contamination risk that plagues wild-collected Bucephalandra.
Light: Low to medium; iridescent sheen most visible under moderate, angled lighting. CO2: Not required; optional supplementation modestly improves growth rate. Substrate: Attach to rocks or driftwood with fishing line or tissue glue — do not bury rhizome. Planting: Tie or glue rhizome to hardscape; allow it to anchor naturally over 2–4 weeks. Growth: Slow; very long-lived and virtually indestructible once attached to hardscape.
