Bucephalandra sp. 'Isabella'
Also known as: Isabella Buce, Buce Isabella
Origin: Borneo, Malaysia
Bucephalandra sp. 'Isabella' is a sought-after morph among serious buce collectors, prized for the unusual lightness of its leaf colouration — a luminous pale to medium green that contrasts beautifully against dark substrate and rock. The leaf margins have a subtle ruffled or wavy quality that adds textural interest at close range. Because it is a slow grower and somewhat less forgiving than standard buce morphs, it rewards aquascapers who maintain stable, clean water chemistry.
Light: Low to medium; 25–45 PAR; avoid intense light to prevent bleaching. CO2: Beneficial; 10–20 ppm helps maintain leaf integrity. Water: pH 6.0–7.0, soft water (GH 0–8) for best colouration. Planting: Attach carefully to smooth hardscape; handle rhizome gently. Growth: Very slow; stable parameters are key to preventing leaf melt.
