Bucephalandra sp. 'Lamandau'
Also known as: Lamandau Buce, Buce Lamandau
Origin: Central Kalimantan, Borneo
Bucephalandra sp. 'Lamandau' hails from river habitats in the Lamandau district of Central Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo. It is recognised by the distinctly hammered or puckered texture of its dark olive-green leaves, which gives it a tactile visual quality unlike smoother buce morphs. This textural character makes it especially effective when placed among rough-surfaced lava rock or craggy driftwood. It is an uncomplicated grower that asks only for a stable, low-nutrient environment and adequate flow.
Light: Low; 20–35 PAR; strong light is unnecessary and invites algae. CO2: Not required; performs well in low-tech tanks. Water: pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderately hard. Planting: Secure to hardscape; avoid substrate planting to prevent rhizome rot. Growth: Slow; very stable once established, rarely needs intervention.
