Bucephalandra sp.
Origin: Borneo (Sarawak)
Bucephalandra sp. 'Red' is a cultivar displaying deep ruby-red to wine-coloured leaves with characteristic Bucephalandra iridescence — a blue-to-violet shimmer that catches light at certain angles. Like all Buce, it is a slow-growing rheophytic plant from fast-flowing Borneo rivers, attached to rocks and wood rather than substrate. Highly prized by aquascaping collectors. Colour intensifies under good lighting and CO2.
Attach to wood or rock with thread or glue — do not bury rhizome. Medium light; colour develops better with good light. CO2 beneficial but not required. Temperature 22–28 °C, soft slightly acidic water preferred. Very slow grower.
