Cabomba caroliniana
Origin: North and South America
Cabomba caroliniana is a popular bunch plant featuring delicate fan-shaped leaves arranged in opposite pairs along slender stems. It creates a beautiful feathery texture in the aquarium and is particularly favoured by egg-scattering fish for spawning. A staple in most Belgian and Dutch shops.
Plant in groups of 5–7 stems in fine substrate. Requires medium to high light for best growth — in low light stems become leggy. CO2 supplementation improves density. Regular trimming encourages bushiness. Changes from submersed to emersed leaf form when growing above water. Sensitive to very hard water which causes calcification on leaves.
