Cardamine lyrata
Origin: East Asia
Cardamine lyrata is a delicate cold-water stem plant from East Asia with distinctive lobed kidney-shaped leaves arranged alternately along slender stems that create an airy fern-like appearance. Best suited to cooler aquariums below 22°C and a natural choice for temperate and hillstream biotope setups. Sends adventitious roots from leaf nodes in humid or semi-submerged conditions.
Keep water temperature below 22°C — grows poorly in warm tropical tanks. Medium light, no CO2 required. Plant in groups in fine substrate or attach adventitious roots to hardscape. Fast grower in optimal conditions — trim regularly. Suitable for unheated aquariums in temperate climates. Can be grown in paludariums with aerial portions above the waterline.
