Anubias nana 'Coffeefolia'
Also known as: Coffee Leaf Anubias, Coffeefolia Anubias
Origin: Cultivated (West Africa origin)
Coffee Leaf Anubias (Anubias nana 'Coffeefolia') is a cultivar selected for its dramatically blistered, bullate leaf surface that mimics the texture of coffee plant (Coffea) leaves. New leaves emerge with a warm reddish-brown colouration before maturing to deep, glossy green, providing a continuous display of colour variation. The raised, corrugated leaf surface catches light in a unique way, creating attractive shadows and highlights in planted tank compositions.
Light: low light; deeper shade enhances the contrast of new reddish-brown growth against mature dark-green leaves. CO2: not required; micronutrient fertilisation helps maintain the characteristic blistered leaf texture. Attachment: secure rhizome to hardscape with superglue gel or thread; do not bury. Trimming: remove older leaves as they lose the distinctive texture; new growth continuously refreshes the display. Growth: very slow; propagate by rhizome division.
