Cryptocoryne albida
Also known as: Pink Flamingo Crypt, Albida Crypt
Origin: Asia
Cryptocoryne albida is a slender, small Cryptocoryne from Myanmar and Thailand with very narrow, strap-like leaves that may appear olive-green to brownish-pink depending on water conditions and light intensity. Under brighter lighting the pinkish colouration of the leaves intensifies, earning it the popular name Pink Flamingo Crypt. It stays compact at 8–15 cm, making it an excellent foreground species for smaller tanks. It is moderately sensitive to water quality changes and appreciates stable conditions with soft to moderately hard, slightly acidic water.
Light: Medium (30–50 PAR); pink colouration intensifies under stronger light. CO2: Beneficial; CO2 injection improves colour expression and leaf density. Fertiliser: Root tabs every 4 months; liquid fertiliser with iron weekly to promote and sustain leaf colouration. Planting: Foreground; plant in small groups of 4–6 rosettes 3 cm apart; keep crown above substrate. Growth: Slow; reaches 8–15 cm; spreads via runners once established.
