Cryptocoryne balansae (Crispatula)

Cryptocoryne balansae (now classified as C. crispatula var. balansae) is a tall, elegant species producing long narrow dark green leaves with distinctly crinkled, corrugated margins. It originates from Thailand and Indochina and adapts well to a range of water conditions, making it one of the more beginner-friendly tall Crypts. An outstanding background plant for medium to large aquariums.

Plant in nutrient-rich substrate and allow several weeks for establishment before expecting strong growth. No CO2 or high lighting required. Tolerates hard and soft water. Be patient during the initial crypt melt period — new leaves will emerge from the established roots. Excellent in Southeast Asian biotope setups.
