Cryptocoryne crispatula var. balansae
Origin: Southeast Asia (Thailand)
Cryptocoryne crispatula var. balansae is one of the longest-leaved Cryptocoryne species, producing strap-like leaves with deeply crinkled, rippled edges that can grow to over 60–80 cm in larger tanks. It creates a flowing, curtain-like effect in the background and tolerates both soft and hard water conditions. Very low maintenance once established, requiring neither CO2 nor high light.
Plant in substrate and allow 4–6 weeks for establishment. No CO2 or fertilization required for basic growth, though root tabs or substrate fertilizer encourage faster development. Crypt melt after transplanting is normal — be patient as new leaves emerge from the established root system. Provides excellent vertical structure in large aquascapes.
