Cryptocoryne hudoroi
Also known as: Hudoro Crypt, Hudoroi Crypt
Origin: Borneo (Sarawak)
Cryptocoryne hudoroi is native to the peat forests and acidic river systems of Sarawak, Borneo, where it exists in very restricted localities. Its leaves display an extreme degree of bullation (surface blistering) that gives them an almost quilted, three-dimensional appearance unlike any other aquatic plant, with deep olive-green colouration that intensifies under warm lighting. It is strictly for advanced aquarists and collectors, requiring stable, soft, acidic conditions and a mature, undisturbed aquarium environment.
Light: Low; dim, warm-spectrum lighting best preserves leaf texture and colour. CO2: Beneficial; soft acidic CO2-supplemented water produces finest results. Substrate: Fine, nutrient-rich, peat-enriched substrate; root tabs essential. Planting: Handle rhizome minimally; expose crown; provide ample space as a specimen plant. Growth: Very slow; extraordinarily sensitive to disturbance — do not move once established.
