Cryptocoryne ideii
Also known as: Ide's Crypt, Ideii Crypt
Origin: Borneo (Sarawak)
Cryptocoryne ideii originates from the rivers of Sarawak, Borneo, and was named in honour of the Malaysian botanist Ide who contributed to the taxonomic understanding of the genus. It produces lance-shaped leaves with a beautifully hammered surface texture in bronze-green tones that shift in hue depending on light intensity and water parameters. It is a species for dedicated collectors and advanced aquarists who can provide the stable, soft acidic conditions it requires to thrive over the long term.
Light: Low; warm, indirect lighting brings out the bronze surface tones. CO2: Beneficial; improves establishment rate and promotes leaf growth. Substrate: Soft, fine, nutrient-rich substrate with root tabs. Planting: Expose crown; place in a prominent midground position as a specimen. Growth: Slow; allow 4–8 weeks for establishment after planting.
