Cryptocoryne noritoi
Also known as: Noritoi Crypt, Borneo Strap Crypt
Origin: Borneo
Cryptocoryne noritoi is a specialist species endemic to Borneo, known from relatively few wild localities. Its narrow, strap-like leaves display a pleasing greenish-brown colouration with slightly wavy, undulating margins that give it visual interest beyond its modest size. In cultivation it grows slowly but steadily in moderately soft, slightly acidic water. It is best appreciated in a low-disturbance aquarium where its subtle elegance can be seen at close range. Like many Bornean Cryptocoryne, it dislikes abrupt water parameter changes and may experience temporary melt during acclimation. Once settled, it is a rewarding and long-lived aquarium plant.
Light: Low to moderate; does not tolerate bright light; shading improves leaf colour. CO2: Not required; optional CO2 supplementation supports steady growth. Fertilisation: Light, regular liquid feeding; root tabs help sustain long-term growth. Placement: Foreground to midground; suits biotope and collector tanks. Propagation: Produces short runners; divide established clumps carefully.
