About

Cryptocoryne pallidinervia is endemic to the rivers of Sarawak, Borneo, and its name literally means 'pale-nerved' — a direct reference to its defining feature: a network of prominently white or cream-coloured lateral veins that stand in sharp contrast against its dark, heavily blistered green leaf blades. This vein pattern makes it one of the most visually distinctive aquatic plants available. It is a collector's species that demands soft, acidic, stable water conditions but rewards its keeper with a truly spectacular display.

Care Guide

Light: Low; pale vein contrast is most pronounced under warm, dim lighting. CO2: Beneficial; acidic CO2-supplemented water brings out the best leaf patterning. Substrate: Fine, peat-enriched substrate with root tabs for sustained nutrition. Planting: Expose crown; use as a focal specimen with sufficient space around it. Growth: Slow; very sensitive to disturbance — once placed, avoid replanting.
