Cryptocoryne schulzei
Also known as: Schulze's Crypt, Schulzei Crypt
Origin: Thailand
Cryptocoryne schulzei is found in the river systems of Thailand and is named in honour of the botanist Schulze who contributed to the taxonomic study of the genus. It produces narrow, upright medium-green leaves with a slightly corrugated surface texture, forming compact rosettes that are well suited to midground positioning. It is moderately demanding and best cultivated in stable, soft to neutral water conditions in established aquariums, where it grows slowly but steadily.
Light: Low to medium; steady medium light promotes the best growth. CO2: Beneficial; supports establishment in soft water. Substrate: Nutrient-rich substrate or root tabs every 3 months. Planting: Expose crown; plant in groups of 3 for a tufted, natural appearance. Growth: Slow; patient aquarists will be rewarded with a tidy, long-lived clump.
