Cryptocoryne wendtii Brown

Cryptocoryne wendtii 'Brown' is a popular and adaptable mid-ground plant producing hammered-textured brown-green leaves with reddish undersides. One of the most reliable Crypts, it tolerates low light and can go weeks without fertiliser once established. Excellent for biotope and low-tech planted aquariums.

Plant singly or in small groups in nutrient-rich substrate. May shed leaves when first introduced ('Crypt melt') — new growth will appear in 2–3 weeks. Low to moderate light is sufficient. Root tabs beneficial. Avoid frequent replanting. Spreads by runners to form natural colonies.
