Cryptocoryne x willisii
Also known as: Albida Willisii Crypt, Pale Willisii Crypt
Origin: Sri Lanka
Cryptocoryne x willisii 'Albida' is a distinctive pale form of this Sri Lankan hybrid species, selected for its whitish to pale green, semi-translucent narrow leaves that create an ethereal, almost luminous appearance in the aquarium. It is more petite and delicate-looking than many other willisii forms, and its understated colouration pairs well with richer greens, reds and browns. Care is standard for small Sri Lankan Cryptocoryne — soft to moderately hard water, low to moderate light, and stable conditions. It is slightly more light-sensitive than the standard willisii form and should not be placed under intense illumination.
Light: Low; the pale colouration can bleach further under strong light — shade preferred. CO2: Not required; stable, consistent conditions matter more than CO2 levels. Fertilisation: Light root tab feeding; minimal liquid fertilisation needed. Placement: Foreground to midground; particularly effective under a dense plant canopy. Propagation: Runners; separate small daughter plants once they are rooted in substrate.
