Microsorium pteropus 'Mini'
Also known as: Dwarf Java Fern, Mini Java Fern
Origin: Southeast Asia
Dwarf Java Fern (Microsorium pteropus 'Mini') is a compact cultivar selected for its significantly reduced leaf size, typically remaining under 10 cm in height. It is ideal for nano tanks, detailed aquascaping around small stones, or as a foreground accent in larger layouts. It retains all the renowned hardiness and low-maintenance traits of standard Java Fern, making it accessible to aquarists of any experience level.
Light: low light; one of the least demanding plants for nano aquariums. CO2: not required; thrives in low-tech, uninjected setups. Attachment: attach rhizome to small pebbles or driftwood pieces with superglue gel or thread. Trimming: remove old fronds as they yellow; the small size makes maintenance very simple. Growth: slow; propagate by rhizome division or leaf-tip plantlets.
