Echinodorus palaefolius pot

Echinodorus palaefolius, the Mexican Sword, produces very broad oval to heart-shaped leaves on tall petioles that give it a distinctive imposing presence in the aquarium. It is one of the larger Echinodorus species and makes a dramatic centerpiece or background statement plant in spacious aquariums. Highly adaptable and reliably available in Belgian and Dutch aquarium shops.

Plant in nutrient-rich substrate and provide medium lighting. No CO2 required. Allow the root system ample substrate space — this is a large plant that benefits from a wide, deep planting area. Root tabs near the base greatly improve growth rate and leaf size. Suitable for large tanks of 150 L or more where its full size can be appreciated.
