Eleocharis acicularis
Origin: Cosmopolitan (TC)
Eleocharis acicularis, Dwarf Hairgrass, is the most popular carpet plant in planted aquariums. Fine, hair-like stems form a dense grass-like lawn when given CO2 and high light. Tissue culture format is shrimp-safe — no snails, algae or pesticides.
High light and CO2 required for carpet formation. Low light = slow sparse growth. Soft, slightly acidic water. Temperature 20–28°C. Plant in small clumps 2 cm apart. Spread improves with good nutrient dosing.
