Eleocharis acicularis 'Mini'

Eleocharis acicularis 'Mini' is a tissue culture selection of the classic thin-leaf hairgrass, chosen for its markedly finer, shorter blades that rarely exceed 5 cm even under optimal conditions. This selection is ideal for nano and pico aquariums where standard E. acicularis would appear out of scale. The tissue culture form ensures the plant is free of algae and pests, which is particularly advantageous for this species that can be difficult to establish cleanly. It spreads via runners at a moderate pace and requires medium to high light and CO2 for a tight, uniform carpet. Plant sections 1–2 cm apart and allow 4–6 weeks for the carpet to fill in. Trim with scissors to keep the sward at a uniform height.
