Eriocaulon sp. 'Feather'
Origin: Southeast Asia
Eriocaulon sp. 'Feather' is one of the most visually distinctive varieties in the Eriocaulon genus, named for the fine, feathery tips that radiate outward from its compact central crown in an almost sculptural display. Its unique leaf morphology sets it apart from the tighter, rounder rosettes of other Eriocaulon forms, giving it a delicate, almost crystalline appearance in the aquarium. Best used as a specimen plant or in small, carefully spaced clusters in the foreground of Iwagumi and Nature Aquarium-style layouts. Demands very soft, acidic water, CO2 injection, and intense lighting — not a plant for low-tech systems.
Requires ultra-soft water (GH 1–4, KH 0–2) with consistent pH below 7.0. CO2 injection at 20–30 ppm is essential. Use fine, nutrient-rich substrate and maintain high-intensity lighting. Dose liquid micronutrients weekly. Grows very slowly — do not disturb. Place in the foreground with ample space between individual rosettes to display its form. One of the most rewarding challenge plants for dedicated aquascapers.
