Eriocaulon sp. 'Kompakt'
Also known as: Compact Eriocaulon, Kompakt Eriocaulon
Origin: Southeast Asia
Eriocaulon sp. 'Kompakt' is a cultivar or geographic form selected for its noticeably smaller rosette size compared to standard Eriocaulon species. It is the go-to choice when a specialist wants the Eriocaulon aesthetic in a very restricted foreground space. Each rosette reaches only 3–8 cm and grows slowly, maintaining a neat, controlled appearance with minimal trimming. Like all Eriocaulon, it demands high light, CO2, and very soft acidic water — parameters common in high-end competition aquarium setups.
Light: High; 70–100 PAR at substrate; insufficient light causes etiolation and decline. CO2: Required; 25–35 ppm; diffuse evenly across the foreground. Water: pH 5.5–6.5, very soft (GH 0–5), KH near zero. Planting: Plant small groups 2–3 cm apart into fine-grained nutrient substrate. Growth: Very slow; avoid uprooting once established.
