Eriocaulon sp. 'Mini'
Origin: Southeast Asia
Eriocaulon sp. 'Mini' is one of the smallest Eriocaulon varieties available in the hobby, forming tiny, perfectly proportioned rosettes just 2 to 4 cm across when fully grown. Its miniature scale makes it exceptionally well suited to nano aquariums where standard foreground plants would look oversized, and it creates an ultra-fine, jewel-like foreground texture in larger aquascapes where it can be planted in small groups. Like all Eriocaulon species, it demands soft acidic water and CO2 supplementation to maintain its compact form — without them the leaves elongate and lose their characteristic tightly-packed rosette shape.
Grow in very soft, acidic water (GH 1–4, KH 0–2) with CO2 injection and high-intensity lighting. Fine aquasoil substrate recommended. Add liquid micronutrient supplements weekly. Due to its miniature size, use fine aquascaping tweezers for careful planting. Grows very slowly — expect several weeks of slow adaptation before new growth appears. Allow ample space between plants so the full form of each rosette can be appreciated.
